Sierra Madre Trail Ultra (PHI)
Introduction
A successful new entry into the Asia Trail Master Championship series last year. Sierra Madre Trail is quite unique in today’s trail running scene in that it offers just 1 race category: 75 km. It takes place east of Manila in the Rizal mountain area, however, on a completely different course than the Santa Ines event held in February.
The 75 km course has an elevation gain estimated at 4200 hm, which is not nothing. Looking at the race profile, it’s an up-and-down hilly course with 12 distinct peaks. The cut-off time is 19 hours with a race start at 2 am. Fast runners may also be happy to see there is prizemoney on offer for the Top 5 male and female runners.
On the event website linked below, you can also read about airport shuttle services to the race venue in Rodriguez in case you do not wish to spend any time in Manila. Please also note that a medical certificate not older than 6 months is mandatory here for participation in the race, so do bring one with you.
