The 2024 edition will take place on the same weekend: 7/8 December

Introduction

The Izu Trail Journey, often referred to as "ITJ", is one of Japan's premier trail races along a stunning 70 km course taking you from the edge of the ocean up and across the mountains of Izu Peninsula. The expansive vistas of the Pacific Ocean below and the HUGE views of the majestic snow-topped Mt. Fuji you'll encounter while running along the trail are awesome and will absolutely blow you away! The route is 80% on pure trail. Elevation gain is around 3200 hm.

International gateway

Best is to fly into Tokyo. Tokyo Haneda Airport is theoretically more convenient than Narita Airport, especially if you are in a rush, simply because Haneda is closer to the Izu Peninsula, which lies south of Japan’s capital city. From Tokyo, you need to take a train to Mishima, which is the gateway to reach the start or finish venues, subject to your accommodation arrangements. You could also stay in Mishima and take the early morning event shuttle bus to the race start in Matsuzaki. Be aware that you will still need transport to go from Shuzenji finish venue back to Mishima after the race. There’s convenient trains, just be aware of this.
